Services

In the time immediately following a death, whether it was expected or sudden, a family can feel overwhelmed and utterly lost. When we hold a funeral or a gathering to say good-bye, we do so to support each other, care for each other, and acknowledge publicly that this time is set aside for us to say how sad we are and how much we loved the person who is gone.  It is in this intimate community that our relationships hold us up and we share our grief.  If we do not acknowledge our sorrow and loss, we may end up alone and unsupported in our bereavement.

When you call me, I will ask you a little bit about yourself and the person who has died. If, after our conversation, you feel that I understand you, we will meet in person so I can begin to collect the stories, memories, relationships, and the history that reflects and recalls best the person you have lost.  These precious recollections become the eulogy and story at their service.

Because of my experience as a Funeral Director, I can help you with different choices about how you would like to honour the person you love– you may want to hold a vigil, or it might be the special care of the body after death in a home, hospice or hospital; you may want a home funeral, a memorial after cremation, a more traditional service or something entirely unique for your family.

My basic fee is $295, plus GST.  This includes meeting to gather the stories and memories, writing and editing the service, attending the funeral to deliver the tribute, and a transcript of the service as a keepsake.  If you would like any additional services, we can talk about those at that time.
